Race 6 #1 Bittercreek

Join Now

Bittercreek gets blinkers back on, a gear change that signals intent from the stable. His last start in the Group 1 Rupert Clarke saw him caught wide and never comfortable, but the form out of that race has been strong. He thrives on firmer tracks and showed his class with a sharp win in the Group 3 Red Anchor Stakes earlier in the prep. Ben Allen knows the horse well and will look to settle him midfield before unleashing his strong finish late.

Race 7 #2 New Energy

Join Now

Is flying under the radar but brings strong form into this event. His close finish in a tough Group 1 Cantala Stakes at Flemington showed his ability to handle high-pressure racing. He’s got the versatility to race forward or settle midfield, and Mark Zahra is a major plus, bringing his calm judgment to get the best from this horse. A drop in trip and softer opposition should give him every opportunity to show his sharp turn of foot late.

Race 8 #3 Arapaho

Join Now

A seasoned stayer, Arapaho steps back up to 2400m, a distance he’s won over multiple times, including in Group 1 company. His fifth in the Group 1 Champion Stakes at Flemington last start was full of merit, considering he was positioned too far back in a hotly run race. Rachel King is an experienced pilot who gets the best out of him, and if the race develops into a test of stamina, Arapaho’s grinding style will come into play. The likely soft ground enhances his chances.

Race 9 #3 Tuvalu

Join Now

Tuvalu is a class act and a proven competitor at the highest level. His first-up record is stellar with four wins from nine attempts, and his ability to handle all surfaces makes him reliable in varied conditions. His recent fifth in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes was better than it looked, finishing just three lengths off the winner despite racing from the back. With tactical speed and a strong finish, Tuvalu can dictate or sit just off the pace, making him incredibly hard to beat here.
