I’m quite keen on Redoute’s Night in the opener. This gelding, trained by the astute Cindy Alderson, has been away from the track for a spell but has been prepping beautifully. The word from the track is that he’s come back in top order, and with Ben Allen aboard, I reckon he’s in with a very good shot. He’s been knocking on the door in much tougher races, and this looks like his day.
Now, here’s a mare that caught my eye last time out. Alletante, trained by Clifford I Brown, didn’t disappoint in her latest start. She’s got the fighting spirit, and with Jacob Noonan up, I expect her to be right in the mix. She’s been working well, and her form suggests she’s ready to break through.
There’s something about Yongtai that really impresses me. This mare has a win under her belt at Bendigo and the way she overcame difficulties in that race tells me she’s got the grit for today’s challenge. Trained by David Brideoake & Matt Jenkins, she’s one to watch, especially with the lightweight advantage she has today.
I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for Shal Exceed. This horse has shown some serious potential and seems to be coming into its own. The maiden win was solid, and I’ve got a hunch that this could be a stepping stone to bigger things. Definitely worth keeping an eye on.
