Iowa’s recent performance at the Gold Coast really caught my eye. Annabel Neasham’s decision to keep him in Queensland speaks volumes. The trip today seems right up his alley, and with the blinkers off and Cejay Graham’s claim, I reckon he’s primed to lead the pack. He’s a solid type, a bit of a one-pacer, but that could be just what’s needed in this race.
Here’s a filly that’s really starting to make her mark. With two wins from four starts, including that commanding performance at Ballina, Jukebox In Siberia has shown she’s got the goods. The partnership with Jag Guthmann-Chester looks to be a winning formula, and even though this race is a step up, I’ve got a feeling she’s up to the challenge.
Now, Ring of Steel is an interesting one. His last outing here was something special, and it seems like gelding might have been the making of him. He’s got talent in spades, and with Jim Orman in the saddle and a favorable gate, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him take this one out. He’s got that spark – keep an eye on him.
I’ve been following Fleur Du Monde since she moved North, and she’s a mare that consistently puts in a solid effort. Her last start was impressive, and with a drop in weight today, I reckon she’s in with a great shot. She’s bred for this distance, and with Mark Du Plessis giving a positive ride from a good gate, she could very well be crossing the line first.
