Kicking things off with Race 3, I’m leaning towards Old Fashioned. There’s something about this gelding that catches the eye, maybe it’s the way Brian McGrath has him moving in the mornings or Jaylah Kennedy’s quiet confidence when they pair up. They’ve got a real shot in this one, especially with Old Fashioned showing some promising turns of speed in his work.
Moving on to the fifth, Cool Heart is the one that’s got me talking. This gelding, well, he’s just got that look of eagerness, like he knows what’s coming. Training’s been spot on, and the track conditions are just how he likes them. It’s shaping up to be his day, and I reckon he’s ready to show us what he’s got.
In Race 6, don’t overlook Wailua. This mare is something of a dark horse, but whispers around the track suggest she’s hitting her peak at just the right moment. J W Bridgman’s got her tuned up nicely, and with Logan Bates in the saddle, they’re poised to turn a few heads. Keep an eye on them; they could surprise us.
And for the main event in Race 7, Friday At Five is my standout. After tangling with some stiff competition in the city, this run should feel like a walk in the park for him. That win a couple of starts back wasn’t a fluke, and with the drop in grade, I’m expecting big things. Neil Farley knows how to get him across the line, and I reckon they’re the pair to beat.
