He’s been knocking on the door with strong placings and clearly handles the track well. His last couple of races show he’s ready to break through, and the step up in distance should suit him perfectly.

Race 5: No.3 Discobay

This mare has been knocking on the door after consistent runs in slightly tougher maidens. While she’s had 14 attempts without a win, her efforts over similar distances have shown that she’s capable of breaking through. Her last run wasn’t bad considering she faced traffic, and she should appreciate the step up to 1500m. While the wide barrier is a challenge, she’s proven tough enough to work into a good position and finish strong. At her current odds, she offers great value in an open race.

Race 5: No.1 Midnight Charm

A Mornington specialist with two wins and multiple placings at the track, this gelding thrives on the tight-turning course and loves the short 1000m trip. He led and fought hard last time here, placing a close third in a strong BM64, and now drops back slightly in class. His early speed means he should find the front again, and from a favorable barrier, he’ll be hard to catch. Forget his recent metro run, as the competition there was much tougher. With Tatum Bull’s claim bringing him down in weight, he’s primed to perform.

Race 6: No.3 Mintman

Mintman is right at home at Mornington, with a win and two placings from four starts here. He’s been ultra-consistent this prep, including a close second at Cranbourne last time out, and now returns to his preferred track. Drawn perfectly to find a midfield position, he has the turn of foot to launch late. If the tempo is solid upfront, which it looks like it will be, Mintman should be charging home over the top.

Race 7: No.2 Walk Of Fame

Is overdue for a win and ticks a lot of boxes here. Her heavy-track effort last time can be forgiven, as she prefers a dry surface, which she gets today. With three wins and multiple placings at this distance, she has the class edge in this field. The draw is slightly tricky, but her regular ability to race on pace should see her slot in nicely. Expect a sharp improvement back to her favored conditions, and she looks the one to beat in a winnable BM64.
