I’m really keen on Eject in the first. This young colt from the Freedman yard has shown a lot of promise in his trials. There’s something about the way he moves that just screams class. He’s got that Street Boss lineage which, in my opinion, gives him an edge. The fact that he’s drawn barrier 2 is just the cherry on top. The Freedman’s know how to prep their debutants, and I reckon Eject is no exception. Keep an eye on this one – he’s not just any run-of-the-mill newbie.
Moving on to Race 4, Excommunicado is one I’ve got my eye on. This filly is another from the Freedman stable, and her bloodline – by I Am Invincible – is something to take note of. She’s shown some real zip in her jumpouts, and despite the wide draw, I think she’s got the goods to make a strong showing. It’s these kinds of races where you can spot a future star, and Excommunicado might just be it.
For Race 5, I’m leaning towards Amigo. This Snitzel colt has been knocking on the door with some solid runs, especially that last outing at Sandown. He’s been tested against some stiff competition, and I reckon he’s due for a breakthrough. Drawing barrier two is a big plus. When a horse consistently competes at high levels like Caulfield, it’s only a matter of time before everything clicks. I’ve got a good feeling about today for Amigo.
Lastly, in Race 8, Herbert Park is my pick. After a convincing win on debut, this horse has a bit of a challenge with barrier 11, but I’m not too worried. The way that first win has held up in form is impressive, and with Jake Noonan in the saddle, I’m confident he can navigate the field. The odds are fair, and in a race like this, Herbert Park has the potential to shine.
