Race 1, No. 2, Cuban Lord

Kicking off the day, Cuban Lord in the first race is a pick that caught my eye. Even if you hadn’t watched his recent races, the buzz around him is hard to ignore. He has got an extra gear that makes him a big threat to the other competitors and could set him apart if he gets the right look at it. Even so, he has shown in previous races that he can nagivate a tricky situation. I like him here at around $4.

Race 3, No. 11, Alainge

I’m particularly excited about Alainge, a three-year-old filly, in this race. Her debut at Clare was nothing short of impressive – she overcame a difficult spot at the back, navigating through a tight pack with an eye-catching burst of speed to clinch the fifth spot. It’s not just her immediate performance that caught my eye but also her lineage as a daughter of Sir Prancealot, indicating a strong affinity for the 1400m challenge ahead. Rightfully the favourite, but still think she is value here.

Race 5, No. 10, Sophina Diva

Turning our attention to Sophina Diva, there’s a sense of anticipation as she’s set to run in the fifth race. After a spell, her comeback has been noteworthy with consistent performances. Last time, she narrowly missed a top-three finish, showing a commendable drive towards the end. It’s this resilience and her ability to maneuver from a midfield position that make me believe today could be her day to shine. With a slightly less competitive field, Sophina Diva might just find the perfect opportunity to demonstrate her full potential. If she does, the current price of around $18-19 could be a great outside selection.

Race 7, No. 4, Star Expresso

Join Now

Is a mare who shouldn’t be underestimated. Her gradual ascent in form, especially evident in her last outing at Murray Bridge, sets her up nicely for today’s challenge. She’s proven her mettle on both heavy and dry tracks, a versatility that’s crucial at Oakbank. Going into a 0-54 after a solid performance in a BM58, Star Expresso has more than just a fighting chance – she’s a serious contender for a top spot, and represents great value.
