Best Bet: Moonee Valley Race 9, No.4 Omni Man

I don’t like tipping a horse that has won three on the bounce and i haven’t been on once. But this horse might be better than winter grade. He started this preparation as a 68 rater and he has progressed to be a 91 rater. That is very rare to see these days and that makes me think this might be a horse of above average ability. He worked hard from his wide draw to find the lead at Rosehill last start and was too strong late. He looked in trouble halfway down the straight but fought it out to the end. I know it was only Dragonstone chasing but the win was full of merit. He is five from five over the 1000 meter trip and while this is his first go anti clockwise i don’t see that as an issue. Obviously the Moonee Valley track bias has been well documented from the previous meeting and the rail goes back to the true position for tomorrow. You would think that might even the bias up somewhat but that aside i want to be on a guaranteed leader around The Valley over 1000 meters regardless. I am making him the best of the day.

Next Best: Rosehill Race 1, No.2 Caballus

This highly promising colt made up for an unlucky defeat at his first career start to narrowly win at his next start. That was at Randwick where he sat off a quick speed at managed to nail the highly promising Estriella in the last 50 meters. While that was the first race of the day he ran quicker time than Mogo Magic did in winning and only two tenths slower than Insurrection did. Not very often you will see a maiden win an open 2 year old race especially on a Saturday. He rises in grade to a 3 year old BM72. That being said while The Little Pumper is in good form and is the winner of two races i am binning the Randwick form with the rail out as far as it was. Caballus should get a nice run from this good gate and while i don’t expect him to be in front of his main danger being The Little Pumper, i just feel this is a horse that might be going places and for that reason i am making him the second best bet of the day.
