With a keen eye for winners, Mick presents his two best bets of the day to maximise your chances of a winning day.
This 3yr old did something last start that is rarely done these days. He bought his North Queensland form to town with success. He is going for four in a row here and i see no reason why he can’t do it. He got back in the field in a slowly run race last start, but when he got clear he really knuckled down and was too strong. This is an identical race to last start and looks an easier field on paper. He goes up two kilos but a momentous jockey change will offset that. I guess the only negatives are he has been getting back in the field and this is his first go around Doomben. Out to 1350 meters looks ideal for him and if he can find a spot not too far off them i see no reason why he can’t continue on his winning way. Best of the day.
I hate tipping shorties but it is really hard to see Cylinder being beaten here. He and Little Brose are thrown into this race at the set weights. If this was a handicap they should be giving some of these horses between five and ten kilograms. He is first up for nearly five months. He looked really sharp in a trial at Warwick Farm on the course proper two weeks ago. That trial suggest he has come back in really good order. I know he has got the outside barrier in a small field and that can be a recipe for disaster. And throw short odds into the mix as well. But with Shinn on board you just know he will give it every possible. Next Best of the day.
