Best Bet: Flemington Race 4, No.4 Legio Ten

This gelding has only missed a hole once in his career. Last start he got back in the field and made ground late in a 1200 meter Listed Stakes Race here two weeks ago. He drops a whopping 5 kilos on his last start and this seems to be a very similar field. He is out to 1400 meters for the first time which should suit him. While the unbeaten The Creator creates some interest first up from New Zealand, it is a massive jump in class for him to an open age 3 year old race at his first start in this country. Hence happy to risk him. At the weights Legio Ten looks extremely well placed and happy to make him the best of the day.

Next Best: Eagle Farm Race 9, No.5 Freedom Rally

On a day where it is hard to bet with confidence i have landed on Freedom Rally in the last at Eagle Farm as the best value of the day. He resumed from a 7 months spell in a midweek Class 1 plate and put them away very easily for a first up win. While that was an inferior field to what he is opposed to today the upside is he is back to racing his own age group. There has been some winning form to come out of that midweek race so that adds to the confidence. Unfortunately he has drawn poorly but Eagle Farm seems to be playing off the fence in the last few months. It could be a race set up for the run on horses as there is plenty of go forward types in this race. If it was 1400 meters i would say he is a bet to nothing each way but the fact he stays at 1200 is the only worry for me. But on a day where it looks extremely hard to make a best at odds with any confidence i will stick with a horse that has plenty of upside.
