This promising Waterhouse/Bott rising 4 year old resumed at Randwick a few weeks ago when nailed right on the line by Iowna Merc. He began well and worked his way to the lead and got run down in the last stride. He showed brilliant gate speed that particular day so he is a guaranteed leader from barrier 1. He is straight to 1500 meters 2nd up and should get an uncontested lead. While this field in considerably harder today than what he resumed against a few Saturday’s ago the fact he will lead could be a big advantage with the rail being out 4 meters today. Looks a horse who might be competitive in better races so happy to make him the best of the day.

I am not overly big on tipping horses that haven’t been showing much gate speed. But i am making an exception with Ralphie. And if the truth be known he will need a cushy run to get the 1200 meter trip. But he is flying at present. Got a long way back at Ipswich two weeks ago and never really got clear till halfway down the straight. He really hit the line hard late. Maybe could have finished closer than he did with more luck. While he rises 2.5 kilograms on his last start at Ipswich this field is easier than what he raced last time. That being the case I am happy to take the punt that he can get over the top of them in the last 100. Good chance and worth a try.
