Tipping a Maiden runner in a Listed Race isn’t usually a recipe for success. But this doesn’t appear to be a strong race on paper. Influential is third up and gets out to a far more suitable distance than his first two starts. He was slow away at the Sunshine Coast and got well back but hit the line very strongly. He found trouble along the way but with better luck today in run he could be the one. While the form out of that race has been average at best he might be on the up. Only negative has been his lack of gate speed so far that he has shown. Drawn close to the fence he might settle closer and that might be the difference. At the odds worth the chance in a race where there doesn’t look any standouts.
